The Black Hole is a three polar pattern microphone that you can use in any application that you uses U87 or AKG C 414. It is a gorgeous mic and I highly recommend it.
One thing I love about this mic is I just set it up and go. It sounds great with no EQ or compression. I get really nice open sound with nice air. I own a lot of classic mics like C12’S, Neumanns, Brauner etc., but this is now my Go to mic!
The Black Hole is not only a fantastic vocal mic, but excellent on many other sources. On both male and female vocals we've found the BH-1 to have unbelievable clarity and definition. The Black Hole is crisp and clear, realistic sound has great cut through on the web and in broadcast. I've used it to record e-learning modules, toy voices, phone greeting cards, museum tour narrations, and commercials. Added bonus is that breathing and mouth noises are dramatically reduced, saving me tons of time in post.
I love the BH1S microphone. It is such a versatile workhorse that I've been using it on all sorts of things (mostly vocals, but also classical and acoustic guitar, violin, viola, kick drum, percussions). It has great detail and depth, it's very accurate and can take a lot in without breaking a sweat! It does very well when compared to many other mics that cost a lot more.
