The Black Hole is a three polar pattern microphone that you can use in any application that you uses U87 or AKG C 414. It is a gorgeous mic and I highly recommend it.
The Black Hole has the natural sound which is extremely appropriate for the recording of avariety of instruments.
One thing I love about this mic is I just set it up and go. It sounds great with no EQ or compression. I get really nice open sound with nice air. I own a lot of classic mics like C12’S, Neumanns, Brauner etc., but this is now my Go to mic!
I'm a proud owner of the Black Hole and BT-201 microphones from JZ Microphones. It's very easy going mics with wonderful top and clearness. BT-201 for acoustic guitar is something I'll never replace and the Black Hole for my lead vocals sessions is religion...The sound of these mics is so saturated but also with a beautiful brilliance. I can't find a better sounding mic and the price is so right. Check it out- you won't be dissapointed!
I own two of the BH-1 Dual capsules, and have had great results in every application. Ive used them on a grand, A/B with Klaus U87 and went with the JZ. Excelent on Strings as well! I Would definetely recomend them if you got the cash.
I used a pair of Black Holes on a Steinway Grand Piano for recording and they sounded amazing! It’s really great mic!
The Black Hole is not only a fantastic vocal mic, but excellent on many other sources. On both male and female vocals we've found the BH-1 to have unbelievable clarity and definition. It is our go-to mic for vocals. We've also had great results with recording acoustic guitars, banjo, violin and drums with the Black Hole. Acoustic guitars sound huge and clear. The Black Hole is crisp and clear, realistic sound has great cut through on the web and in broadcast. I've used it to record e-learning modules, toy voices, phone greeting cards, museum tour narrations, and commercials. Added bonus is that breathing and mouth noises are dramatically reduced, saving me tons of time in post.
